Inception Phase = Pre-Grant

    1. Gather stakeholders – (collaborators, team members, NIH grant support) describe roles (set of related skills, competences, and responsibilities).
    2. Set scope and goals – specific Aims and the grant application that was reviewed and approved by all stakeholders
    3. Select population classification algorithms.
    4. Metrics - Propose comparison metric and how to test it.

2.1.5.1 Life Cycle Objective Milestone (LCO) - Stakeholder concurrence on scope definition and agreement on the requirements at the end of Inception Phase.

  • Stakeholder concurrence on scope definition and cost/schedule estimates.
  • Requirements understanding as evidenced by the fidelity of the primary use cases.
  • Credibility of the cost/schedule estimates, priorities, risks, and development process.
  • Depth and breadth of any architectural prototype that was developed.
  • Establishing a baseline by which to compare actual expenditures versus planned expenditures.
